Dance, love, passion, “And Then We Danced” at Filmekimi

“And Then We Danced” tells the story of Merab, a talented young dancer who is captivated by the charismatic and carefree new addition to the national folk dances ensemble. Merab discovers love and himself and ways to exist in a conservative and repressive society.

Shot discreetly in Georgia, “And Then We Danced” features a variety of songs from ABBA to Robyn and Georgian folk tunes, breath-taking dance scenes and a very touching, sentimental coming-of-age tale.

Influenced by his upbringing in the 80s, movies and dance movies, director Levon Akin’s latest feature is a super low-budget film which premiered at Cannes within the Directors’ Fortnight section.
