England Is Mine, depicts the Manchester years of Morrissey in the 1970s…

From his early youth in the 1970s to the days he co-founded The Smiths, Morrissey is the central character in Mark Gill’s “England Is Mine”. Still influencing British and even world music with his emotional lyrics, unparalleled voice, Morrissey’s career shot off with The Smiths and went on with his solo days. The iconic musician is played by young shooting star Jack Lowden, who is also in the cast of Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk”, to be released in Turkey this week. Morrissey’s friend, the feminist punk artist Linda Sterling is played by “Downton Abbey” actress Jessica Brown Findlay. “England Is Mine” premiered at the closing slot of the Edinburgh Film Festival in July, and takes its name from The Smiths song “Still Ill”.
