Deniz Gamze Ergüven whose Mustang was nominated for the Oscars, casts Hollywood stars Daniel Craig and Halle Berry in her latest film. She focuses on the 1992 Los Angeles incidents while following two characters from quite different social communities. Referring in its title to both Martin Luther King and Rodney King, who was at the centre of the incidents, Kings takes a hopeful and optimistic look at a scar within the conscience of the US public. Scored by Warren Ellis and Nick Cave, Kings’ director of photography is David Chizallet, who was also acclaimed for his work in Mustang.
