A vicious cult, hell-bound monsters, and a man pursuing vengeance... Premiering at Sundance and internationally at Cannes, Mandy pushes the boundaries of both 80s’ aesthetics and the action-fantasy genre. In the film, Red, played by Nicolas Cage, seeks to avenge his lover Mandy, who has been brutally murdered by a religious sect called Children of the New Dawn. Switching between reality and fantasy, visually adapting to the mindset of its lead character Red, Mandy borders on the extremes. Co-produced by Elijah Wood, and scored by Jóhan Jóhansson, Mandy is the latest feature from Panos Cosmatos, whose experimental dystopia Beyond the Black Rainbow was quite popular.
