Palm d’or-winner "The Square" at Filmekimi!Share
Taking on the family institution in his previous film Force Majeure, Ruben Östlund this time tackles the art world in The Square, his latest film which won the Palm d’or at Cannes. Östlund describes The Square as “a drama/satire. I wanted to make an elegant movie, with visual and rhetorical devices to provoke and entertain viewers. Pedro Almodovar, who led the Palm d’Or jury, cited it for depicting "the dictatorship of being politically correct". Taking the sterile atmospheres of museums and art galleries, The Square is both striking and tense with its stylised visual structure, edgy approach, and the way it tackles the art industry. Ruben Östlund’s 2014 Cannes Jury Award-winner Force Majeure also had its Turkish prmiere at Filmekimi.
