A pandemic movie for people sick of pandemic movies, as put by Variety magazine, Language Lessons is the lovechild of Mark Duplass and Cuban-American actor-director Natalie Morales, who both are the lead of the film. As its title suggests, the film follows Adam who decides to carry on with his language lessons despite a personal tragedy and develops a complicated emotional bond with his Spanish teacher, Cariño. But do you really know someone just because you’ve experienced a traumatic moment with them? A moving exploration of platonic love, Language Lessons premiered at the 2021 Berlin Film Festival.
