Delving into the social traumas of the USA through war and politics, The Card Counter is a dynamic crime thriller that tells the story of a master gambler and how the ghosts of the past reign over the world of the present. Ex-soldier and gambler William Tell just wants to spend his days gambling, but takes an unexpected dangerous path when he succumbs to his desire for revenge. Written and directed by Paul Schrader, the film's producers include his long-time collaborator, legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The duo have previously worked together on Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. The revenge story starring Oscar Isaac with an impressive performance had its world premiere in the Main Competition at the 2021 Venice Film Festival.
