2021 Cannes Palm d'Or | 2021 Toronto Audience Award–Midnight Madness

Julia Ducournau's follow-up to her shocking debut Raw is an indescribable, unconventional film that defies the borders of gender, violence, family, and body, which has brought her the second Palme d'or ever won by a woman at Cannes. Called by the BBC as "the most shocking film of 2021," Titane tells the events that lead up to a series of unexplained crimes, and a father reuniting with the son who has been missing for 10 years, but this plot is insufficient for a film that is full of twists. Built on contrasts such as shadow/light, cold/hot, metal/fire, Titane recalls filmmakers from Cronenberg to Refn, but is so original that it will linger in your minds for a very long time.

Scenes depicting sexuality/violence in this film might be disturbing for some viewers.
